The Youghal based boat designers and builders are celebrating today after ThunderChild II set a new record time of 2 hours and 36 minutes yesterday on the Cork- Fastnet- Cork route.
The 75 foot, 30 tonne, gold powerboat left Cork Harbour with 5 crew onboard, and reached speeds of over 50 knots, or over 90 kilometres per hour on its way to setting the record.
The team behind the record are now hoping to set an around Ireland record next year.
