A group opposed to flood defence plans for the city are due to take their fight to the Supreme Court tomorrow.
Save Cork City are taking the action to try to stop the Office of Public Works from developing their current Lower Lee Flood Relief Scheme.
The OPW say the plan will protect against a one in one hundred year flood from the River Lee and will include efforts to retain and restore the city's historic quay walls.
However, Save Cork City have described the project as a 'walls plan' that won't protect the city and are calling for a tidal barrier to be constructed at Little Island or Tivoli.
A group of UCC architecture students yesterday staged a demonstration in the city against the OPW's plans.
Speaking to RedFM News, one of the organisers Conor Ryan says proposals for a system of pumps to prevent the flooding seen in the city on Sunday are not reliable.
"The North Mall, I'm sure you've seen the videos of that it was crazy to see that the quay there was turning to waterfall.
"The flooding there didn't even come from the river so you can only imagine if was built up on the key side there how it would just capture all that water and it would just pool and it would just be an added problem.
"Pump systems are temperamental. They're a moving parts system. They aren't a stationary solution. They're something that needs to be maintained."
