Fire crews from Bantry, Midleton, Schull and Skibbereen attended the fire yesterday afternoon
Emergency services were called after smoke was seen rising from the Convent of Mercy in Skibbereen at around 3:30 yesterday afternoon.
Neighbouring houses were evacuated and no one was injured in the fire, however the convent building was extensively damaged.
In a statement to RedFM News, Garda Press says the results of this mornings examination will determine the course of their investigation.
