There's two status orange warnings for low temperatures in place this week in Cork.
The first warning for icy conditions comes into affect for 19 counties in Cork this evening at six o'clock with another status orange warning issued for tomorrow night which concerns 25 counties.
Tonight is set to be the most severe night in Cork with predicted temperatures as low as minus 7 across the city and county.
Speaking to RedFM News, Meteorologist at Met Eireann, Brandon Creagh explains why there are two warnings in place for Cork:
"There's two status oranges in place because we're mainly concerned about temperatures overnight without cooling the first one coming into effect at six o'clock freezing because temperatures will dip down quite quickly after the sunset tonight and then it stops being in effect to 12 just because daytime temperatures will get above freezing so we'll have a little bit of reprieve there. But then it comes back into effect for cork and most of the country at 6pm tomorrow."
