Gardaí have arrested a second teenager - as part of their investigation into a serious incident in Carrigaline last Wednesday.
A 19-year-old man has already been charged with assault causing harm to 29-year-old Matthew O'Neill on the 28th of December in the Glenwood Estate.
29-year-old Matthew O'Neill remains in a critical condition in Cork University Hospital - after he was assaulted on the road outside his home, in the quiet Glenwood Estate in Carrigaline, at around half-past-five on Wednesday evening.
Paramedics worked to stabilise him at the scene before rushing him by ambulance to CUH, where he underwent emergency surgery for serious head injuries sustained in the attack.
Gardaí arrested a second teenager - an 18-year-old man - in Crosshaven, at lunchtime yesterday, for questioning.
He is currently being detained at Togher Garda Station where he can be held for up to 24 hours.
A 19-year-old man has already been charged with assault causing harm and remanded on bail, to appear again at Cork District Court on the 5th of January.
Gardaí have reissued their appeal for any witnesses who were in the vicinity of the incident between 5 and 5.45pm on Wednesday, to come forward.
