Cork's historic Shandon clock is likely to cost at least €400,000 euro to repair.

Three out of the four faces on St. Anne's have been telling the wrong time for almost a year while the East face has stopped.

The historic clock was maintained by Philip Stokes of Stokes Clocks and Watches on MacCurtain Street, who stepped back from the job due to safety concerns.

Speaking on the Neil Prendeville show, Cork councillor Kenneth Collins says the council will need to approach the government for funding,

"Four hundred thousand is estimated to fix the clock and to repair anything that needs to be repaired. It's astronomical money, so the council, now has to go to the government and request a grant, Otherwise the clock will not be working going forward, because it's huge amount of money".
