Gardai say "significant progress" has been made in the investigation in to the murder of a Polish man who was attacked by a gang at his rented home in Ballincollig five years ago.
Father of two, 35 year-old Mikolaj Wilk was murdered at a property in Maglin Bridge, by men wielding machetes, in the early hours of June 20th, 2018.
Several masked men entered the house and attacked repeatedly in the presence of his wife, Elzbieta. She sustained injuries as she tried to come to his aid.
At Cork City Coroner's Court, Sgt Fergus Twomey, applied for, and was granted, an adjournment of the inquest into Mr Wilk's death until April 25th next year
He told the Coroner's Court that a "comprehensive investigation file" is expected to be submitted to the DPP in the near future.
Six people have been arrested and released without charge in connection with the death of the father of two. Those arrested include Latvian, Polish and Irish nationals.
They were arrested on suspicion of facilitating and supporting an organised crime gang whom gardai suspect were behind the murder of Mr Wilk.
Mikolaj Wilk ran a gardening service in the area where he lived and was not known to the authorities. It is thought he may have had a historic debt.
The Wilk family returned to Poland in the aftermath of the tragedy.
