SIPTU is calling on the National Ambulance Service to engage with them as they seek clarity on proposed ambulance cuts in county Cork

Work rosters issued for next week reflect an original plan to reduce ambulance services midweek in West and North Cork despite the Health Minister's intervention

On Tuesday Minister Stephen Donnelly announced funding would be provided to cover the shifts so that the suggested reductions would not happen.

Speaking to RedFM News SIPTU's John McCamley says urgent clarification on the matter is needed

"We've heard a lot of statements in the media from the Minister but we're not seeing a lot of action on the ground, and that's what needs to happen. We need to be formally told what is happening from next week from the employer itself. It's all well and good having the Minister make statements in the media - the employer, which is the National Ambulance Service,  needs to engage with SIPTU to indicate whether or not these shifts are being covered next week"
