SIPTU is returning to the Labour Court to call for an immediate wage increase for childcare workers.
The union claims a significant number of childcare staff are leaving their jobs, with a third looking for jobs outside of the profession.

Cork City Childcare continue to engage with potential alternative service providers with the hope of an announcement this week
Darragh O'Connor from SIPTU says staff must be encouraged to stay in the sector:
"When these pay talks are concluded, we want €2/hour on top of what the rate is going to be. That would start bringing people to a kind of reasonable minimum of where they should be at, and certainty addressed the staffing crisis, and for finally recognising and rewarding the educators on the ground".
