The sister of tragic Brendan Wall was taking part in Sunday’s Ironman when she was told about the death of her brother
The 45-year-old who was originally from Co Meath died on Sunday during the swimming leg of the event.
He is survived by his fiancée Tina, parents Oliver and Gertrude, two brothers Martin and Joe and his sister Maria, who was taking part in the cycle when she was told that her brother had died.
Meanwhile a vigil to remember the lives of Brendan Wall and Ivan Chittenden is planned for Green Park in Youghal at 7pm on Thursday.
Speaking to RedFM News, local community radio presenter Tommy Collins says people in the town are keen to show their support for both families:
