The Higher Education Minister has announced a six million euro grant for two universities in the city.
Minister Simon Harris officially opened a new 13 million euro sports arena at Munster Technological University and a new student medical centre at University College Cork yesterday.
The funding announcement is part of a 40 million euro grant system and can be used to make campuses more energy efficient and accessible.

"Just over 3 million euro in a devolved capital grant for MTU and just over 3 million euro in a devolved capital grant for UCC. This is basically capital money that the college can use as it wishes on things like health and safety works, making their campus more sustainable, energy efficient and a range of criteria like that"
