‘Slow zones’ are to be rolled out across Cork city in an effort to reduce the number and severity of road accidents
The City Council has published proposed new speed limit bylaws for public consultation but it's the intention that any housing estate will be reduced to 30km/hr
At the moment a built-up area has a default speed limit of 50km/h except where a special speed limit has been introduced.
Over the last number of years the City Council has introduced "slow zones" on more than 3,000 streets
