A solemn mass for Pope Francis is taking place in the city this evening.
Parishioners will gather at the Cathedral of St.Mary and St. Anne on Shandon Street at half past 7 ahead of the Pontiff's funeral in the Vatican tomorrow.
Bishop of Cork and Ross Fintan Gavin told RedFM News it will be a special mass:
"This will be a mass that will be offered for the repose of the sole of Pope Francis. All your listeners are welcome to join us, it will be a very busy mass. Our cathedral choir will be there. And it wil give people a chance to reflect and to pray. And to condemn Pope Francis to the Mercy of God."
