Thousands of customers in Cork remain without power this evening after gale force winds from Storm Eunice brought down power lines across the city and county.
Storm Eunice hit West Cork in the early hours of this morning and the ESB say customers in that region are still off the power grid despite the work of repair crews.
This means some customers based in West Cork will be without power overnight.
Jim Hernan of ESB Networks told RedFM News that crews will be working into the night to get as many customers as possible back on the power grid:
"It did track east. We did see damage occurring in East Cork. I'm looking at locations like Aghada, Midleton itself but the weather seems to be clearing more quickly over there. Whereas here in Cork and West, it seems to have stayed poorer. So that's kind of the balance of it. I suspect we will have most of our customers back tonight, apart from, as I say, the west of Cork county and some parts of Cork."
