The plans to redevelop the South Docks in Cork city have been held up due to a number of appeals lodged with An Bord Pleanála.
The Echo report that O’Callaghan Properties, through Leeside Quays Limited, who are planning to build four new buildings and a rehabilitation centre on the site, along with converting the former Odlums building, have submitted an appeal on a condition attached to Cork City Council’s approval of the application relating to the maximum parking permitted.
The Council stipulated that car parking supply could not exceed 177 spaces, with 65 further spaces at the rehabilitation hospital. The initial application from Leeside Quays had sought permission for 380 parking spaces, with a further 110 at the rehabilitation hospital.
Two third party appeals have also been lodged by nearby Southern Milling Limited, arguing that the proposed developments are “incompatible with the established existing Southern Milling operation’, and that if the project were to go ahead it would have serious implications for the viability of their production and storing facility.
A decision from An Bord Pleanála is due by Early January.
