The closure is due to works at the Dunkettle Interchange and traffic will be diverted via the R639 through Glanmire.
A new section of the road opened last Sunday and has resulted in delays to southbound traffic during the morning rush hour.
Optimisation of the Dunkettle traffic lights will continue but motorists are being asked to allow additional time for their journey.
