Speed limits on roads in the city are set to be reduced.
Stretches of rural roads in busy areas like Douglas, Blarney, Ballincollig and Glanmire will be reduced from 80km/h to 60 km/h per hour.
The Irish Examiner reports speeding has been reported as a major concern on the busy commuter routes.
The new by-laws will come into effect on February 7th.
