An old derelict office building on Blackrock Road has been converted into 35 apartments for people over the age of 60.
Springville House is managed by Tuath on behalf of the council and has a mix of single story houses and one and two bedroom apartments.
It’s part of the “Rightsize” scheme aimed at people who might be living alone and want to move out of their larger home.
Speaking to RedFM News, Finance Minister Michael McGrath says the new “Rightsize” development will be used as a template:
"I've had an opportunity to visit one of the apartments there I got a tour and it really is state of the art, a warm comfortable home. It is a template that we can use around the country and what a location, in terms of access to amenities, dacilities and walks. So we need to do much more of this and we will."
