The primary school Cillian attended showed its support by putting a sign up for the Oscar winner.
The Cork native won the prestigious trophy for his performance in Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer', which scooped seven awards in total last night.
Principal of St. Anthony's Boys School in Cork, Seán Lyons says the school is proud the actor went there:
"As a school community we are over the moon for his family, especially his parents, Brendán and Mary. What a remarkable achievement for this man from Ballinlough/Ballintemple to win an Oscar, to win a Golden Globe, to win a BAFTA, and really be so humble, so inspirational so appreciative and so thankful."
