Staff shortages in hospitality is one of the reasons hotels are choosing to house refugees instead of trading, according to one Munster hotelier.
39,000 refugees are currently living in hotel accommodation across the country, with many expected to renew their contracts at the end of the year.
It comes as the Tánaiste has said a difficult spring and summer is on the cards for those in the tourism sector.
Patrick Treacy from the West County Hotel in Ennis, Co Clare, says some businesses chose to take up state contracts because of the limited workforce.
