Tourism stakeholders are meeting to discuss the recovery of the sector in Cork this morning.
The event hosted by Visit Cork at the Fota Island Hotel and Resort is open to all people and businesses who work in the tourism sector.
A recent conference hosted by Fáilte Ireland heard that there are around 40,000 job vacancies in the hospitality sector, with 30 per cent of hospitality businesses reporting that they face closure if the staffing crisis continues.
Speaking to RedFM News, Evelyn O'Sullivan from Visit Cork says some businesses in the sector are offering enhanced benefits to try to encourage people to apply for jobs.
"Recruitment in hotels in particular is becoming a big issue. Even when things were returning to normal after shutdowns, you saw that restaurants and hotels were only opening for part of the week.
"This was very hard for them to run try and run their businesses.
"Yesterday I saw an initiative where a hotel in Clare was offering maternity pay and health insurance."
