Stand-Off Continuing This Afternoon In The City Between Former Debenhams Workers And A Truck Driver

Drivers are attempting to remove stock from the Patrick's Street retail outlet

Debenhams workers have been watching the entrances of the 2 Cork branches 12 hours a day for the past 8 weeks to stop any potential couriers attempting to remove stock from the premises.

They're currently in an ongoing dispute with the retailer over the offer of statutory redundancy.

11 stores closed in April including Patrick Street and Mahon Point with the loss of almost 2,000 jobs nationally.

Former employees have staged several protests in recent weeks to call on Debenhams to give them better terms.

Speaking to RedFM News in the past few minutes, Former Debenhams Worker on Patrick's Street Valerie Conlon says 2 vans of OASIS stock have been filled, but that 20 of her colleagues are blocking the vans from leaving Patrick Street:
