€13.7 million in state funding has been announced for Cork Airport.
Junior Transport Minister Hildegarde Naughten announced the money as part of a €108 million fund for the six main Irish airports.
The government says the money will give the airport flexibility to offer discounted airport charges to encourage more airlines to offer flights.
Cork Airport was given over €25 million in state funding last year to compensate for the damage caused by Covid.
The airport expect to host around 60,000 people over Christmas, roughly half the amount of passengers compared to the same time in 2019.
