Status Orange Wind And Rainfall Warning Issued For Cork

A status orange wind rainfall warning has been issued for Cork.

Storm Betty is sweeping across the country with four separate alerts now in place.

The first status yellow warning is now in place for Munster and 6 other counties and will run until the early hours of tomorrow morning.

At five o clock this evening, The entire country will join the yellow warning.

From 9 o clock this evening, a status orange wind and rain warning will be in effect for cork.

Kilkenny and Waterford will also be effected until the early hours of tomorrow morning.

In a statement to RedFM News, Cork City Council say they expect winds to be severe and are urging people to take precautionary measures.

People are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items like trampolines, wheelie bins and garden furniture.

The council are urging road users not to make unnecessary journeys and to drive with caution and to look out for spot flooding and debris on roads.

Emergency crews will be on standby to address any damage might result from severe winds.
