Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain warning for Cork and 11 other counties from 3pm today.
Heavy rain and strong winds are expected throughout Munster along with Wicklow, Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford and Galway
There's also a yellow wind warning coming into force at the same time for the South and East of the country.
Alan O'Reilly from Carlow weather tells us what we can expect
"Unfortunately conditions are going to deteriorate quite quickly this afternoon and this evening with some very heavy rain pushing up from the south, along with some strong winds. Rainfall amounts of 30 to 40 millimetres are possible through this evening and into tonight with some localised flooding likely by morning"
