A status yellow thunderstorm warning is currently in place for Munster, Donegal and Connacht.
It came into effect at half eight this morning and will last until 9pm tonight.
Met Éireann say strong and gusty winds with possible hail should be expected.
Road users should take care as there are warnings of spot flooding and slippy road conditions.
