A Cork cervical check campaigner says new legislation on disclosure in the healthcare system means patients and families will no longer be left in the dark
The law which comes into effect from today means patients are entitled to a review of their diagnosis
Stephen Teap lost his wife Irene to cervical cancer in July 2017 and he subsequently became one of the co-founders of the 221+ cervical cancer screening group
Speaking to RedFM News he outlines the difference this legislation would have meant to Irene and his family
"Irene left this world with unanswered questions and what this legislation would have done would have prevented this from happening to her, particularly around screening and the area there when it comes to reviews. This would have been a huge piece of legislation that would have affected Irene massively when it came to her rights to have her information"
