Storm Bert is the next weather system expected to negatively impact the country over the weekend.
An Orange alert for rain has been issued for Cork from midnight tonight to 10 o'clock tomorrow morning.
Storm Bert is expected to bring strong winds and intense falls of rain over a short period of time leading to flooding in some areas.
Engineer with Cork County Council Mark O'Sullivan told RedFM News they will be keep a closing eye on how the storm is shaping up and issuing warnings as necessary:
"We have Storm Bert arriving over the weekend, which will as we understand, at the moment will be predominantly wind and rain. So our severe weather assessment team will meet again in the coming days and we'll continue to monitor that situation."
