Suspected House Fire In The City Turns Out To Be A House Party With A Smoke Machine

Gardaí called the fire service after seeing smoke coming from the House on Connaught Avenue after midnight

Three crews from Anglesea Street were called to a house on Connaught Avenue and found smoke being produced by the machine when they entered with breathing apparatus.

Gardaí also attended and cleared up to 30 people from the house.

Locals living in the area around UCC say so-called lockdown parties have been ongoing since early summer.

Two residents took a landlord to court using Environmental Protection Agency legislation in July following weeks of partying in the area.

Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM, Catherine Clancy from the Magazine Road and Surrounding Areas Residents Association says residents have been keeping track of house parties in the area:
