Talks at the Workplace Relations Commission involving firefighters who want to see Ballincollig Fire station reopened ended without agreement yesterday
Day long discussions at the WRC on the reopening of the station which has been closed since November 2021 failed to secure an agreed future plan.
City Councillors voted overwhelmingly against the immediate reopening after they were told that annual funding of €4.6m is needed for the fire station and that a €3m upgrade is needed in order to adapt the building for a full time fire service.
However firefighters say they are surprised by these figures and remain hopeful that a satisfactory resolution can be found
Talks on the matter ended last night with both sides agreeing to appear before the WRC again at a future date
