The Tánaiste says he will speak with the Arts Minister to see can Rory Gallagher's iconic guitar be kept in Ireland.
The instrument is being put up for auction later this year for around one-point 17 million euro.
Gallagher bought the electric guitar in 1963 from the owner of Crowley's Music Store in the city and played it throughout his career.
Speaking to RedFM news, Tánaiste Micheál Martin says he would be love to keep it in Cork:
"Very fond memories, he played in the Everyman. I would love if we could. Obviously, I'll talk to Catherine Martin and see what's possible, but it would be lovely if we could get that guitar back on the Leeside."
