The Government and HSE are doing everything they can to reduce the number of people being treated on trolleys at overcrowded hospitals
Tánaiste Micheál Martin was speaking as overcrowding records were broken at Cork University Hospital at the start of the week where 94 people were on trolleys
The Irish Nurse and Midwives Organisation says the high numbers on trolleys are leading to very dangerous situations for patients and nurses who are trying their best to provide safe care.
Speaking to RedFM News the Tánaiste says everything is being done that can be done to alleviate the pressure
"Trolley numbers have come 22% on last year. There are some hospitals where there have been challenges. The HSE Chief Executive Officer has been in Cork and there was some concern about the patient flow at Cork University Hospital set up and in terms of the discharge policy. There will be continued investment"
