The Taoiseach says he's confident that Cork is well poised to benefit from continued foreign direct investment following the pandemic.
Micheál Martin was in Crosshaven yesterday to mark 300 years of the Royal Cork Yacht Club, which is the oldest in the world.
Cork is home to multi-nationals such as Apple, Pfizer, Eli Lily and Pespi.
Speaking to RedFM News, Taoiseach Micheál Martin says Cork is also gaining a reputation as a research and education hub:
"Cork has a strong modern economy, founded on that FDI sector, both life sciences, technology, and increasingly, on the research and education. It's a great education centre with two universities now, major research like Tyndall and the Microbiome Institute. There's really world class research going on in Cork."
