The Taoiseach says the Munster Technological University will be a major boost for the region.
Micheál Martin was speaking at a flag raising ceremony at MTU yesterday.
Formally CIT, the college was granted university status in May 2020 and officially joined with IT Tralee to form MTU on the first of January this year.
Speaking to RedFM News, Taoiseach Micheál Martin says the campus has always had strong links with industry.
"Most people would say that the forerunners to this college, the Institutes of Technology, the Regional Technical Colleges, are actually central to inward investment to this region.
"Particularly the life sciences, programmes like instrumentation, engineering, lab technicians, Pharma biotech, they all speak very highly of the quality of the graduates that have come out of these colleges and these campuses."
