The Taoiseach has officially opened the new home of Cork Arc Cancer Support in the city.
Micheál Martin cut the ribbon at Sarsfield House in Wilton in front of a large crowd of the charity's supporters this afternoon.
Cork Arc offers a range of support services to people with cancer and their families and says it has seen a sharp increase in demand for their services, with 250 people contacting the charity for the first time last year- bringing the total number of service users to over 1,750.
Speaking to RedFM News at today's launch, Taoiseach Micheál Martin hailed the work of Cork Arc:
"The therapies that are provided here, the emotional support that is provided here, and the practical help that's provided here at Arc House to so many people - it's fantastic. And also, I think, it reflects the journey we've had over the last 20 years in terms of the continuum of cancer care from prevention, to early detection, to treatment and then to the post-treatment phase".
