The Taoiseach says Uisce Éireann are hopeful Cork's dirty water issue will be resolved in the next few months.
Thousands of homes across the city are affected and Uisce Éireann says the problem lies with old cast iron pipes which are being replaced.
Uisce Éireann are also running a flushing works programme as families says they cannot drink the brown water and have had to replace appliances damaged by the water supply.
Speaking to RedFM News Taoiseach Micheál Martin says he raised the issue with Irish water and received a positive update:
"Irish water said there will be progress there. I feel there's going to be progress in the next short while, they are investing in a number of initiatives, because there's a number of factors that's leading to discoloration of water. and they had a report for me, and I getting a further report from them because I requested it specifically, I got a positive response yesterday from Irish water, and they're hoping that we see a difference in the next number of months."
