The Taoiseach has arrived in Skibbereen where a gate style trash screen is being installed at an area in the town which it's believed led to flooding the town last evening.
It has been confirmed to RedFM News that the gate, which is being put in place at an area known as 'The Cutting', was ready to be installed prior to the floods however it's understood the COVID19 outbreak delayed this.
Calls have been made for a full independent investigation into why this gate wasn't installed as according to government directives at the beginning of lockdown vital infrastructure works such as water and power were permitted to continue.
