A TD has claimed paramedics are leaving the ambulance service in Cork because they're being left frustrated by an "unworkable system".
Thomas Gould says one of his constituents on the northside of the city was left waiting almost three hours for an ambulance to bring her to hospital on Tuesday.
In a statement to RedFM News, the HSE says they were dealing with a very high demand for 999 services for patients with immediately life-threatening conditions at the time of the call.
Speaking to RedFM News, Deputy Thomas Gould says the ambulance service in Cork isn't fit for purpose:
"Staff feel they are underfunded, under-resourced, understaffed and the current system isn't fit for purpose. And in actual fact, it's leading to some people to leaving their jobs and moving on to different industries because it's so frustrating and the stress levels they're under. It's just it's not workable at the moment."
