Cork has faired well in the new National Development Plan.

That's according to Cork TD Padraig O'Sullivan who welcomes the progression of the Cork to Limerick Road and affordable housing schemes being launched in Boher-boy road, Montenotte and Bishopstown.

Government ministers launched the revised, 165 billion euro plan in UCC this afternoon.

Speaking to RedFM News, Cork North Central TD Padraig O'Sullivan says he's looking forward to the improvements of Corks roads:

It's great that the current Cork to Limerick road is continuing to progress, the main road, and obviously for us here in Cork North Central the vital piece of infrastructure there for us is the North ring road, that'll ultimately connect the Cork-Limerick road at the Dunkettle interchange which is currently being upgraded so, you know, hopefully when this is all done, and it will take a number of years to go through. It will show that the complete North side of the city that people will be able to circumvent it just like they can in the southside, so it's a good day in that regard."
