Teenager escapes serious injury after falling into a cave in west Cork

A teenager who fell into a cave in West Cork yesterday evening has escaped serious injury.

The girl in her mid teens fell up to 30 feet into a cave on an island called East Skeam, near Schull and Baltimore in West Cork.

The Alarm was raised at about 5pm, with the girl being flown by the Coast Guard helicopter to Cork Airport, where she was transferred by ambulance to Cork University Hospital.

The Irish Examiner report that a medical assessment had confirmed that the teenager had escaped serious injury
