Sunny spells have continued in most parts of the country today.

However, Met Éireann says temperatures will drop during the week from the weekend's warmer weather.

Northerly winds will make for cooler temperatures from Wednesday onwards.

Meteorologist Paul Downes explains the arrival of the colder weather.

"We're looking at highs about 10 to 15 on Tuesday, a couple of scattered showers about on Tuesday a bit more prevalent than Monday, but good sunny spells as well. Then from from Wednesday onwards we're going to connect much cooler conditions pushing in there., through the day and Wednesday in ordinary as the afternoon during might only see highs about 5 to 8 degrees, 9 to 13 degrees elsewhere."
