The 'Test Site' on Kyrl's Quay was built on a vacant patch of land between the Coal Quay and North Main Street car park and has hosted a number of events since opening.
The site- which includes a large wooden pavillion- was the vision of a group of friends with experience in art, urban planning and architecture and is open for the public to meet, gather and learn in.
The space and pavillion will eventually be dismantled and the group say a new site will be found going forward.
Speaking to RedFM News, co-creator of Test Site Ailbhe Cunningham outlines the philosophy behind the project:
"It's designed to be dismantled, but also the whole idea of the circular economy- we're actually showing with quite a permanent heavy or weighted structure, that it can be taken apart and it can be moved quite effectively so that whole idea that the buildings in the city- they don't just get demolished and disappear and become rubble or waste; that everything is a resource and that we consider this pavilion as a resource also."
A new "Test Site" designed by a group of friends has opened in the city. The site on Kyrl's Quay aims to give people a space to meet and exchange ideas and to imagine a future for the city. More @RedFMNews on air and online. pic.twitter.com/MOEy5qZFNO
