Ten Cork animal welfare charities are to receive a boost of €800,000 in funding.
The Echo report that the Donkey Sanctuary in Mallow has been awarded one of the highest sums from the €5.8 million national pot, receiving just under €380,000.
The funding was announced yesterday by the Minister of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, with an increase in funding of €2 million compared to last year.
Other Cork charities to benefit included the Cork SPCA, Cork Dog Action Welfare Group and the ISPCA Equine Rescue Centre in Mallow.
