A Cork letting agent says tenants are now accepting that they must spend most of their wages on rent.
Rents jumped by 10% at the end of last year in the city.
Tenants are now paying an average of €2097 per month to rent a property according to the latest report by daft.ie
Speaking to RedFM News, Pauline O’Sullivan from Prime Letting in Douglas says people are now willing to pay much more for rental properties,
"Properties that we don't think will get a certain level are getting it, and they're achieving it very easily. People are now willing to pay more because they understand they haven't a choice, and they're caught in a rental scenario that no one wants to be in, but they are paying more of their wages all the time over to rent, and it's like they have accepted that this is the norm."
