- A man is due in court this morning charged in connection with the biggest drug seizure in the history of the state. The MV Matthew was detained by a joint task force involving Gardaí and the Army Ranger Unit on the 26th of September.

- Volunteers at Samaritans Ireland's Cork branch are working to help the 24-hour support helpline deal with the 10 per cent jump in calls since last year.The branch on Coach Street opened its doors in September 1972 and currently has 180 active volunteers of all ages.
