The Director of Public Prosecutions has directed Richard Satchwell to stand trial at the Central Criminal Court for the murder of his wife Tina.

The 57-year-old of Grattan Street, Youghal, Cork, appeared before Clonmel District Court in Tipperary today via video link.

Judge Brian O’Shea told Richard Satchwell the State will be given time to serve a book of evidence on him and his legal representatives and asked if he would consent to a remand of four weeks for the book to be prepared.

Richard Satchwell replied “Yeah, I consent.”

Judge O’Shea remanded him in custody to appear before the court again on March 12th. The date of his trial will be finalised within the next few months.

Tina Satchwell was reported missing in March 2017- her skeletal remains were found under a concrete floor and a walled up area underneath the stairwell of her home in Youghal in October last year.
