The level of funding allocated to repair storm damaged roads in Cork county has been described as "disappointing"

Just €13 million has been provided to repair roads which were badly damaged in the aftermath of Storm Babet

Cork County Council estimates the repair bill, for the roads alone in the county, will hit €50 million

Council Chief Executive Valerie O Sullivan says the allocation of €13m falls far short of what is needed to deliver essential repairs programme countywide.

She added that storm damaged roads in East Cork in particular will remain in a substandard and unacceptable state for some time to come
