A new global study by the Lancet has found that more than 1 in 4 women have experienced domestic violence in their lifetime.
It also found that 27% of women with long-term partners aged between 15-49 have experienced physical and/or sexual violence from a partner.
It concludes Governments are not in line to meet targets to eradicate violence against women by 2030.
Mary Crilly from Sexual Violence Centre Cork says that includes Ireland:
"They move so slowly. They need to take violence against women extremely seriously, have a minister in charge of this or have an officer in charge this."
