The Helm Of The Kinsale RNLI Lifeboat Is Encouraging People To Educate Themselves And Respect Water When Visiting The Coast

His comments follow a tragic diving incident at Nohoval Cove in West Cork yesterday afternoon

A 35-year-old man jumped from a height of over 30 feet before hitting a group of rocks underneath the surface of the water.

Emergency services, including Lifeboat crews from Kinsale and Oysterhaven, the Coastguard's Rescue 115 helicopter, and ambulance crews were called shortly after 2.30, and the man's friend had to drag him ashore.

The diver was airlifted by the Rescue 115 helicopter to Cork Airport before being taken to Cork University Hospital via ambulance.

His condition at CUH has been described as 'very serious'.
