It's after new analysis from Sherry Fitzgerald showed home starts are back up at Celtic Tiger levels.

The building of over 30 thousand new homes got underway in 2021 according to the estate agent, with over half of those in the greater Dublin area.

The Autumn 2021 Residential Review foresees that the new home supply in urban areas such as Cork, Limerick and Galway will improve in the upcoming year.

Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien is hopeful 2022 will be a much better year for home completions:

"We had two years where supply was was greatly restricted because of COVID, obviously 2020, 2021. We made up some lost ground toward the end of last year. We're going to be delivering affordable homes at scale this year for people."
